In order to protect the health of the community, the Health Department provides prevention, maintenance and educational services to the citizens and visitors of the area, other social, medical and educational providers, the business community, and local, state and federal government agencies. Highly professional, responsive services are provided to all customers in a courteous manner with respect for individual dignity.
The 2011-2012 Flu Season
In the United States, the flu season is usually from fall through early spring. The peak of flu season has occurred anywhere from late November through March. The overall health impact (e.g., infections, hospitalizations, and deaths) of a flu season varies from year to year. On average, each year in the United States:
